Putting a Baby to Sleep

Many times, putting a baby to sleep becomes challenging for parents. As Babies’ sleep, especially in the early months, is typically full of interruptions. They can drive you crazy if they are not getting proper sleep. But not to worry, here‘s how you can put your baby to a peaceful sleep:
1. Talking about bed time routine, you can sway your baby gently holding in your arms. Babies really enjoy if you cuddle them up and move them slowly. They get really comfortable surrounded by warm arms and fall asleep without any efforts.

2. Nursing is also a good idea to put your baby to sleep. You can breastfeed or bottle-feed your baby. Normally, babies fall asleep so quick if they are fed up properly that they can hardly wait to finish their meal. It’s smart way but don’t let your baby get used to it.

3. A baby in annoyed and fuzzy mood can give you a hard time. You must check if she is hungry, wet or having any trouble. Shake your baby a little, hold her and swing her in the air. Babies love it. You can see how she starts laughing and giggling in her sweet voice. Wind-up baby swings or Mechanical swings are also helpful to make her fall asleep. Though it’s more comfortable for the baby if you do it yourself, as swings are secondary option.

4. You can wrap your baby in swaddling clothes in various ways. Many babies like to sleep tight snuggled and securely swaddled up. Wrap the baby in a soft and loose covering. She might feel suffocated if it is wrapped up too tight. Room temperature should also be considered.

5. A slow dance with your baby is a pleasant way to get your baby in a sleepy mood. Play a nice slow and smooth song, not too loud. Try music to sleep by, such as recordings of waterfall, ocean sounds or her favorite lullabies.

6. Giving your baby a warm bath is a very nice way to drift her to sleep. It relaxes the tense muscles of baby and helps to calm her mind. You can also try giving her a soothing massage before bath.

7. If it is still hard to get the baby to sleep, try to drive down or walk the baby to some near place. Babies really enjoy watching outside through the window of the car and fall asleep eventually.

8. Babies start to recognize familiar faces and voices with time. Try to read, talk or sing to the baby. Rhyming words and a slow and sweet tune can be really helpful. Hold your baby in your arms and up close to your chest so that when you will sing to her, she can feel the vibration of your voice.

9. Not only the music, but some different sounds can also help the baby to go to sleep, such as humming, sounds of fan, air conditioner or a loudly ticking clock.
These sounds are called white noise. You can record some voices and sounds as well.
10. Most important thing is to develop a routine to sleep. Just like eating, you cannot force your baby to go to sleep. You have to develop a pattern for the baby, such as bath time, mealtime and story time will lead to bedtime. It will be easier once the baby get used to the pattern.
